The application provides an object oriented framework (i.e. data centric). The application
allows the user to manage/organize certain types of Windows data (i.e. files, registry items, programs). All
of these objects may be bundled as a unit by creating a data set, which in turn allows for creating archives
for the data (that may be restored at any time).
Disk Files
Control which files are added to a category, by adding via the file dialog selector,
or by using the load command. The load command allows the user to (recursively load)
all files located under a folder given a set of user configurable parameters
(i.e. only files that do have not already been loaded. Recursively loading files allows files
be loaded even if they are not directly found under the given folder, but are located under a
sub-folder.
When files and photos are added to the application via the add or load command, they
may either be directly referenced or a copy made under the application archive folder.
This feature is very useful when extracting photos or files from cameras or removable
media.
All search criteria may be placed on the photo/file after they are loaded. The default search date is
the load time.
Data Sets
This data item allows users to create an item that includes a set of files, registry entries,
along with a note field. Like all of the data items, users may attach search criteria to
each note. This allows a user to organize and archive related data as a unit.
Programs
A program is defined in the application as any ".exe" file that is directly or indirectly referenced
by known system environment variables or registry keys. Therefore, programs (or related shortcuts)
that are found on the desktop, start menu, or in the program folder are found, as well as programs that
are run during system startup.
Users may see the programs, find attributes such as where they are reference from, and create data sets
that include other folders/files and registry items that are associated with the program(s). These data
sets then could be archived as a unit.
Registry Data Items
The ability to search the registry and edit keys and values are included with this tool. In addition,
registry items (keys and/or values) may be archived to control changes in the registry.
Object Oriented Application.
All actions (edit, mail, save to file, print) are done against a set of data items
such as photos, files, data items (recipes, notes, ...etc.). This allows the user to select
the data items they wish to manipulate, before performing one or more commands against the
data items.
The user selects the data by performing the following:
1. Select the type of data by picking a tab.
2. Choose the category where the data resides.
3. Search the data for a subset by using keywords and dates.
One or more functions may be performed against the selected data.
